“Exceptionally bizarre game where the Mets had no bullpen whatsoever, got a 3-run little league homer where the ball never left the infield in the 1st, and an ineffective Kodai Senga led to them throwing out 31-year-old Matt Seelinger to make his MLB debut in a 9-9 game, where he then gave up 7 runs in one inning and was still forced to go out and pitch the next. A large tarps-off crowd also formed in the nosebleeds that I eventually joined because why not, just did a bunch of dumb chants and a successful roll-call at one point. Had to leave in the middle of the 8th to catch a train.
With this game and Jonah Tong's debut, I have attended the 2 Mets games where they have scored the most runs in both a home win and a home loss.”
“Bobby Valentine-disguise Giveaway Night where the Mets scored a big lead early, blew it thanks to an ineffective Freddy Peralta and Tobias Myers, only for MJ Melendez to launch a walk-off homer to the Coca-Cola Corner in the 10th.”
“David Peterson got blown up early as was his M.O. during this period, the first game of what eventually became a 12-game Mets losing streak, their longest in 20 years at the time.”
“Jacob deGrom's long-awaited Citi Field return completely ruined by Jonah Tong getting knocked out in the 1st inning, killing all of the stadium's enthusiasm for deGrom's return before he even took the mound.”
“Jonah Tong scores the win in his much-anticipated debut and the Mets score the most runs in a home game in their franchise's history. A British couple in front of me told me it was their first baseball game; with BOTH teams putting position players on the mound at points, I told them this was a terrible example of what the sport looks like.”
“Against all odds, Frankie Montas turned in a good 5 scoreless innings in his first start as a Met. Huascar Brazoban and Jose Castillo then immediately blew the game out of the bullpen after Montas was removed and, one failed 9th inning comeback later, the 2025 collapse was officially in full swing.”
“Bizarre game where a rain delay knocked the starters out in the 3rd inning, then the Mets showed no signs of life at all before rallying with 3 in the 9th off of Tanner Scott to tie the game, then blew opportunity after opportunity in extras before losing after they ran out of pitchers and had to use a way-overworked Huascar Brazoban. I left after the 11th because I had to catch the final train home to New Jersey, couldn't make it anyway and had to spend the night on the streets of New York until the trains resumed the next morning.
Also found a rogue baseball sitting in my section in the 500s, so that's cool I guess.”
“Just a miserable game where the rain was pouring, the home plate umpire screwed over Clay Holmes directly resulting in 2 runs scoring, and that's about it.”
“My girlfriend's first MLB game, David Peterson went toe-to-toe with Paul Skenes, Huascar Brazoban blew the save for my second game in a row, and the Mets walked it off off of David Bednar.”
“Brandon Nimmo hoodie-jersey giveaway night, great back-and-forth affair where the Mets came back late, immediately blew their lead, then immediately won on a Francisco Lindor walk off homer.”
“Only non-Mets game I've ever attended as I was in vacation in Florida at the time, also the only extra-inning game I attended before the addition of the ghost runner.”
“Corey Oswalt's first MLB win and Phillip Evans got a clutch two-out hit to tie the game; also I specifically told my mother that Freddy Galvis was "not gonna hit a home run" in the 7th inning and he proceeded to do so on the very next pitch.”
“I hated Rafael Montero on the Mets when I was a kid, and in the first inning he balked home a run, then immediately gave up a homer afterwards. That just about sums this one up well enough.”
“Probably one of the more infamous regular season games in Mets history, 10 year old me stayed for every second of it, I still vividly remember Justin Upton's home run hitting that roof in the bullpen beyond the right field fence, dread.”
“8-year-old me doesn't really remember anything about being here except that Robinson Cano (Yankee of course) got booed THUNDEROUSLY during the opening announcements.”
“Got a foul ball, a Ryan Zimmerman liner down the left field line that the ballboy gave to me
Jeremy Hefner started for the Mets, and I liked him for some reason as a kid so I wanted to create a sign in support of him for the game, but there weren't any numbers of his that I could put on it that could be spun positively.”
